Is a Virtual Consult with an Orthodontist Right for You?

We are all going through an unprecedented time of social distancing as we navigate a global health crisis. To help slow the spread of COVID-19, we are doing our part to minimize person-to-person contact as much as possible for the safety of our patients and staff.

However, that doesn’t mean we aren’t still here to help you get your ideal smile. Instead, we are serving new and existing patients through virtual consultations and checkups.

Is a Virtual Consult Right for You?

 We understand people are often apprehensive about starting orthodontic treatment, and going through a pandemic certainly doesn’t help ease anxieties. However, getting treatment options and cost estimates has never been easier because we are now offering virtual consults. All you have to do is send us photos of your teeth and we’ll send you information about your treatment options. We can even verify any orthodontic insurance benefits you have and send a price quote for treatment. If you prefer, we can meet with you over video or phone to talk about what option is best for you.

When sending us photos of your teeth, be sure to get all the right angles. We will need to see a clear, close-up image of your front teeth and photos of your upper jaw looking up and lower jaw looking down. Once you send us these three images, we can get started with the process of prescribing your treatment.

Virtual Checkups

By partnering with Dental Monitoring, we can customize your treatment further by monitoring your treatment remotely every one to two weeks and only having in-person visits for patients when needed. This keeps your treatment progressing as efficiently as possible. Using a secure app on your smartphone, you send us photos of your teeth. We then review the photos at our office, looking at brushing, tooth movement, progress, elastic wear, and any issues we may want to address right away.

If you are worried about the quality of your treatment being diminished due to the virtual aspect, please know these check-ups actually allow us to take better care of you or your child by addressing any problems when they come up instead of waiting until your next appointment.  Unlike many types of mail-order braces or internet braces, your treatment is monitored and supervised by a licensed orthodontist, and this service is in addition to your in-office visits.

While virtual check-ups may allow us to minimize in-person visits, we are still able to meet with you in our office following our enhanced safety measures. This way, you benefit from having the irreplaceable guidance and supervision of a caring, professional orthodontic staff with the convenience of monitoring your treatment remotely.
